Grandma’s Christmas Candy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 (12 oz) bag white chocolate chips
- 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
- 1 cup red and green gumdrops (or other chewy candy, chopped into small pieces)
Directions
1. Prepare the Baking Dish
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- Lightly grease the parchment with a bit of butter or non-stick spray.
2. Melt the Mixture
- In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, white chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir using a greased spatula.
- Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until everything is fully melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat, as the white chocolate can scorch.
3. Cool Slightly & Add Candies
- Allow the mixture to cool for about 1 minute—this prevents the gumdrops from melting when added.
- Gently fold in the chopped red and green gumdrops until evenly distributed.
4. Transfer to the Baking Dish
- Pour the candy mixture into the prepared dish.
- Use the greased spatula to press and smooth it into an even layer.
5. Chill the Candy
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or leave it overnight to fully set.
6. Cut and Store
- Once the candy has set, lift it out of the dish using the parchment paper overhang.
- Peel away the parchment and slice into small, bite-sized squares or rectangles.
- Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Tips for Success
- Chopping Gumdrops: Lightly coat your knife with non-stick spray or butter to prevent sticking while cutting the gumdrops.
- Festive Variations: Substitute the gumdrops with crushed peppermint candies, holiday-colored sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips for a fun twist!
Enjoy this sweet, chewy, and colorful treat that’s sure to become a family favorite every Christmas!
