Crepes Recipe
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Eggs: 2 large
- Milk: ½ cup
- Water: ½ cup
- Salt: ¼ teaspoon
- Butter (melted): 2 tablespoons
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and eggs until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Gradually add the milk and water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add the salt and melted butter, then whisk until the batter is completely smooth and has a thin, pourable consistency.
Tip: Let the batter rest for 15-30 minutes for even better texture!
2. Heat the Pan
- Heat a lightly oiled non-stick skillet or crepe pan over medium-high heat.
- Test the heat by sprinkling a drop of water on the pan; it should sizzle and evaporate quickly.
3. Cook the Crepes
- Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the center of the pan.
- Quickly lift and tilt the pan in a circular motion to spread the batter evenly into a thin layer.
- Cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until the edges start to lift and the bottom is a light golden-brown color.
- Loosen the edges with a spatula, then carefully flip the crepe. Cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute on the other side.
4. Serve and Enjoy
- Slide the crepe onto a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, lightly oiling the pan as needed.
- Stack cooked crepes with parchment paper between them to prevent sticking.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings like:
- Sweet: Nutella, fresh fruit, whipped cream, powdered sugar, honey, or jam.
- Savory: Ham, cheese, sautéed mushrooms, or spinach.
Crepes are versatile and perfect for any meal—breakfast, dessert, or even dinner!
Enjoy!
